Tracks of the day 23/07/22

  • MorMor – Far Apart

Canadian-based music maker MorMor has returned with a new track and video. Far Apart is the first sample we’ve had of the artist’s smooth soulful sounds for over two years. In a statement, MorMor said that the new track “ is a song about the toxicity that occurs in a relationship when both people haven’t yet faced their demons.” He also confirmed that there’s more of his crisp, silky sounds coming soon.

  • Chase & Status – Mixed Emotions (David Jackson Remix)

Long-standing electronic music ambassadors Chase & Status have released a remix of their single, Mixed Emotions, which dropped on April 10th of this year and featured on the group’s 6th studio album What Came Before. Germany-based producer David Jackson takes the reserved drum & bass track and flips it into a joyful, full-bodied floor-filler.

  • Local Natives – Hourglass

Local Natives have returned with a double A-side single, the first music from the LA band for over two years. Desert Snow and Hourglass are both uplifting tracks but it is the latter that I enjoyed the most. A rousing song infused with positivity. The band said this about the track in a statement:

“It explores the difficulty of feeling divided and isolated from the people we love while knowing the time we have with them is finite, and contains some of our favourite LN lyrics:

What I know now I didn’t then / I know you wish I could forget / We’re drawing lines in the sand / inside an hourglass

This music got us through some really difficult times and reminded us how much joy we get out of playing music together. We couldn’t be more excited to share these songs and play them live on our first tour in two years!”
